“Texan Marie Antoinette” For Her Ranch Wedding

Happily, a few months after their unsuccessful trip to the Texas capital, Standefer stumbled upon a remote 30,000-acre ranch, Cibolo Creek, 40 minutes outside of Marfa. “This part of the USA is one of my favourite places on earth, but at 20 hours from Paris and a 10-hour drive from Houston, it all seemed out of reach.” Undeterred, Standefer and Ward once again found themselves on a long-haul flight to the other side of the world. “On the drive from Austin to Marfa, the beauty of the Texan desert unfolded before us,” Standefer says. “The skyline opened, the colours became saturated with light, and the mountains rose from the horizon. Cibolo Creek was even more stunning than we imagined, and the manager Tom Davis left us charmed. This location was going to be everything we had wished for: rich in culture with an endless landscape.” Still, the question remained: could they organise an all-night rave on Tom’s private airstrip? “He answered in a good ole Texan drawl, ‘Well, I don’t see why not!’ It was a done deal for us.”
